Hey guys! I'm back with a review not for another Korean brand but an absolute cult favorite, the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler.
I have to admit that no matter how many good things I've read about it, I wasn't ready to give up a large sum of money for an eyelash curler. It costs more than 1000php here but then I read from from Ms. Liz of projectvanity.com that this costs about 300php in Japan and that was my cue to get one! Fortunately, my 자기야 (jagiya) was in Japan and eventually gave it to me as a gift 후우우 <3
I was practically sobbing when I received this. I don't get to buy a lot of high end brands so forgive me and my feels. |
The box is simple yet it looks expensive. The product description and instructions are at the back, all written in English. Inside the box is the eyelash curler wrapped in plastic and an extra rubber pad.
I don't think Shu Uemura sells individual rubber pads which means you have to buy another eyelash curler though I've read that one rubber pad can last for years (provided that you clean it too, of course).
ELF - Etude House - Fanny Serrano |
Starting with my eyelash curler history, I've owned three (inexpensive) eyelash curlers before. I've used my Fanny Serrano eyelash curler the most because I've read that it's a good dupe of Shu Uemura's (and it is quite good) but none of them really comes close to the performance of Shu Uemura's.
Let me explain why.
Absolutely no eyelid pinching |
This has to be the biggest factor that makes this eyelash curler… epic. I don't understand how it doesn't happen but even if I try to do it on purpose, it just won't pinch my eyelid. Now you can have beautiful lashes without ever hurting yourself. (All my previous eyelash curlers were all successful in pinching my eyelids btw.)
Sturdy feel |
Unlike other eyelash curlers which felt like they were going to break in pieces anytime soon, this felt sturdy to hold. The quality of the actual curler was like that of a real metal so it didn't feel flimsy or cheap at all. My ELF eyelash curler had a spring attached to it which was kind of neat but this Shu Uemura eyelash curler was quite easy to use without the aid of a spring.
It works! |
Its purpose is to curl your lashes and indeed it does that and more! The very first time I tried this, I literally said "woah~" because I have never seen such result from my previous eyelash curlers. Just look at the before and after pictures. ㅋㅋ
Now I understand why a lot of people swear by this product. You wouldn't really know how good it is unless you have tried it yourself. I do recommend everyone to get this! It's a great investment~ or if you want to get it at a cheaper price, buy it from Japan ㅋ
