Beauty: Unconventional Eyeliner Styles

Eyeliner is my favorite part in my make-up routine for it's the only time where I get to be creative. Depending on my mood, I would alternate cats eye or puppy eye but I always prefer to keep it subtle and not overly done. Meanwhile, new eyeliner styles will always emerge-- some are pretty while others are just questionable.

This post will present some of the eyeliner styles I've come across which I found... interesting.  If you're a follower of my blog, you've probably figured out what I mean by using that word.

1. Cubed Eyeliner

"Instead of filling the lid in for a smoky eye or tracing a precise line for a cat eye, lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux filled in the lid with shimmery gold cream shadow and drew midnight blue eyeliner in a tilted rectangular shape on the outer corners of the eyes."

On monolid eyes, I think it looks great! It gives an illusion of a crease since the 'tail' is not sharp or the usual wing shaped tail. On double eyelids, however, I'm still trying to figure out what effect it's supposed to bring out but I do have this urge to fill in the rest of the empty areas.

I don't think I'll do this for an everyday look but I shall dub this, The Unfinished Eyeliner, because really, it looks like an incomplete work.

2. Floating Eyeliner

"Instead of following common beauty protocol and swiping on eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible, he used bright blues and greens in a banana shape above the eye’s natural crease."

This is probably what I'll do once I give up putting on eyeliner as close to my lash line as possible (which is NOT an easy task)! Kidding aside, it seems that only the top right picture is the most acceptable because of her bleached or almost non existent eyebrows. Using colored eyeliner also makes this style less harsh and slightly more acceptable.

Again, this is another eyeliner style I won't dare to wear outside tbecause I have double eyelids, thick brows and eye bags so I don't need any more lines near my eyes. I think this look deserves another name, Middle Brows Eyeliner, because it seems that you're drawing a second set of brows.

3. Rectangle Shaped Eyeliner

It's not as easy as it looks! You should first watch the video, in order to understand the tedious process that comes with creating this look. I have to give props to the makeup artist for being creative and having a lot of patience!

This is quite different from your typical cats eye because the angle of the wing is steeper and you literally create a rectangle on the outer end of your eyes. This look was supposed to make her look sexy from cute but I thought she looked evil, bordering on scary. (Don't get me wrong, I love Hara!)

I want to try out this look since I have rounded eyes just like Goo Hara but I don't think I can recreate the look exactly. I just found it to be interesting because it really did change the Hara's look. If I were to give this eyeliner style another name, it would be Evil Eye-Liner.

I hope you guys enjoyed my short compilation of what I thought were interesting eyeliner styles. Would you dare try any of them? Or is there a weird eyeliner style you would like to share? Just comment below!~
